At Custom Eyes Optometry, our eye doctors are dedicated to providing exceptional care to the Costa Mesa / Newport Beach community. With years of experience and a passion for helping patients achieve optimal vision, our team combines expertise with a personalized approach to eye health.
Dr. Michael Bourgoin – Advanced Diagnostic and Vision Care Specialist
Dr. Bourgoin is the other half of our pair of powerhouse team of Eye Doctors. With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Bourgoin boasts an incredible skillset and undeniable commitment to eyecare in the Costa Mesa / Newport Beach community.
He graduated from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry, and this was only the beginning of his journey navigating wellness. Dr. Bourgoin’s passion for healthcare starts with his own health journey, which includes surviving stage 4 lymphoma and undergoing two kidney transplants, making his work in healthcare all the more personal.
When he’s not working he can be found spending time with his wife, Dr. Yoo as they travel and embark on outdoor adventures.

Dr. Jean Yoo – A Custodian of Eyecare
Dr. Jean is an undeniable cornerstone of our practice with an unwavering passion and commitment to eyecare.
Dr. Jean is a Seoul native, born and raised in Korea until she was 7 years old when her family moved to Los Angeles. She obtained her undergraduate degree from UC Santa Barbara before attending the UC Berkely School of Optometry where she secured her Doctorate in Optometry and graduated in 1993.
With over 30 years of experience under her belt, Dr Jean is a powerhouse of knowledge as she constantly strives to help people find solutions to their ocular issues, no matter how complex. She has a keen interest in contact lenses and the comfort they bring her patients.
When she’s not working, she can be found spending time with her family of 3 grown sons, a young and playful dog, sewing and travelling!

Roxanna Perez
Roxanna is our well-beloved Optician Assistant with an undeniable passion for helping those in our Costa Mesa / Newport Beach community as they are on their journeys to improving their eyesight.
Her favorite part of working at Custom Eyes Optometry is the fact she plays a role in helping others see and live better as she shares in their joy once she sees how happy they become with a new pair of glasses or contact lenses.
Roxanna is an expectant mother with 3 fur babies to boot! In her spare time she can be found reading and soaking up time with her growing family.
Shaina Wilderdyk
Shaina is another one of our Optician Assistants with a passion for wellness and the role that eyecare plays into our overall wellbeing.
She loves seeing people become their best selves through the power of eyecare and revels in the warm and friendly environment of Custom Eyes Optometry.
Her helping hand doesn’t just end with her 9 to 5 though as she tutors for Step Up as well as tutoring 5th grade students who struggle with Maths. In her spare time she can be found playing wonderful melodies on the piano!
Morgan Byers
Morgan is an Optician at Custom Eyes Optometry with an incredible passion for eyecare.
Morgan’s favorite part of the work they do is building relationships with patients and seeing how those relationships grow as patients return to our practice. She loves working alongside our eye doctors, Dr. Bourgoin and Dr. Yoo. Morgan's been working in the eyecare industry for over 20 years.
Morgan lives with her big extended family with one son and a fur baby. In her spare time she can be found scrapbooking, immersed in arts and crafts and capturing photos of everything that catches her eye.
Marissa Franco
Marissa is another one of our Opticians and a cornerstone of our practice with an unwavering love for eyecare.
Marissa loves seeing the difference she makes in patient’s lives as they help them not only see better but feel and live better overall. She loves the environment we’ve fostered at Custom Eyes Optometry as well as the work she does with Dr. Bourgoin and Dr. Yoo.
Marissa’s free time is often spent with her family of 4 as she soaks up time with her husband, son and daughter. She’s also a big fan of the batting cages, walks on the beach and intentional time with their family.
